The European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS)

The European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) has released new guidance to assist physicians in detecting and managing patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH), a rare genetic condition characterized by high levels of LDL cholesterol and a premature risk of atherosclerotic CVD. A new analysis suggests that nonfasting LDL–cholesterol levels provide equivalent prognostic value to fasting LDL–cholesterol levels.
