Particular attention should be given to kidney function in patients taking warfarin for atrial fibrillation, suggests a study on major bleeding at various levels of kidney function. Bleeding rates were consistently higher in the first 30 days of warfarin therapy across all estimated glomerular filtration rate categories, reported the study presented at Kidney Week 2014.
