The US FDA has approved omega–3 carboxylic acids for use as an adjunct to diet to lower triglyceride levels in adults with severe hypertriglyceridemia (triglyceride levels >500 mg/dL). The approval has come up following the success of the phase 3 Epanova for Lowering Very High Triglycerides (EVOLVE) trial.
