In patients with type 2 diabetes and a history of or high risk for cardiovascular disease

In patients with type 2 diabetes and a history of or high risk for cardiovascular disease, arrhythmias occur more frequently during periods of hypoglycemia, reports a study published in May issue of Diabetes. The study authors noted that bradycardia was eight–fold higher during nocturnal hypoglycemia episodes compared to normal glucose periods and atrial ectopic activity was about four–times higher during nighttime hypoglycemia.
