23–year follow-up results from the Da Qing Diabetes Prevention Study have revealed that an intensive program of diet, exercise, or both besides delaying progression from prediabetes to diabetes, also lowers CVD and all–cause mortality; the mortality benefit may be greater among women than among men. The study was published online April 3 in Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology.
